Kuranda village
Yes, it was raining badly when we got on the Skyrail gondolas for Kuranda village! It’s a 75 minute ride over the tropical rain forest, giving you a chance to have a different perspective on this wonder of the nature. The 2 intermediate stops for walks in the rain forest were fast and refreshing under the pouring rain. But what other conditions would be better to explore a rain forest? Ha ha!
In Kuranda we visited the Butterfly Sanctuary, with more than 2000 butterflies inside, including the world’s largest moth, Hercule. We found out that males are smaller than females and that the process to become a beautiful creature is quite long. I would not remember all the details, but however the caterpillar are really ugly (unlike butterflies which are gorgeous obviously).
We also visited the famous Kuranda markets where a local women offered us a kangaroo key chain as we were (again) the first Romanians she had ever seen.
