On our way to California we had a 24 hours layover in Manila, so we decided to spend it in the city, not in the Airport. Looking back, it was not the best decision we could make!

Imagine arriving at 1 AMat a hotel which is supposed to be in the center, with very good reviews and finding yourself actually in a prostitution area, full of clubs, with the hotel actually having hourly rates and diffuse red lights in the rooms…the taxi had already left and we had already paid via internet so we finally took the room and tried to sleep while hearing the loud music from the clubs next door… disgusting…

We woke up early eager to leave the hotel ASAP and went out to discover the city, giving it a chance to prove our first impression wrong. It didn’t! A suffocated and dense city, with liter everywhere, dog shit on the streets, pollution, areas with people living as in Indian villages, nothing really interesting to see, except some churches and few old Spanish houses in the Intramuros.

Even if you pass by, it’s not really worth exiting the airport!
