Sunny California, highway 101, happy friends
How long have I been waiting for such a trip! Yes, we’ve been on 2 continents already, almost 10 countries, most of the time on the road. However 99% of the time it was just the 2 of us – The Bear and The Zeb…which is amazing…but sometimes you just miss sharing moments and experiences with your good old friends. So we decided to take a “break” from our initial route and while heading to South America we made a longer layover in California to meet “The cretzi” or “The cats” (ha ha) who have recently moved to San Francisco (I will write about it in a different post).
Animals regrouped (Cats, Bear, Zeb), we took the car on Friday evening and drove directly to LA, telling stories of our last period all over the way. So exciting to catch up after this crazy times for all of us!
LA city center is not very impressive, though little Venice (one of the quarters) and its beach are really cool and have a relaxed, chill atmosphere. Once on Santa Monica Pier, we couldn’t stop ourselves from riding a roller coaster and some swings with all the “cool kids” training hard for that “California beach body” just next to us!
North from LA and up on a hill The Getty museum impressed us with its architecture and surroundings, the view and the impressive collections. Not too far from there, the Hollywood walk of fame was quite busy with all the people pushing to take pictures of different movie characters or with all the stars laying on the sideways.
Road tripping back was the best part of the journey. After a wine tasting at one of the nicest wineries in Paso Robles region the mood in the car just got a lot better! We then stopped at the Herst Castle also nicknamed “The Camp Hill”, a nice architectural piece from the 1920s, hidden on the sunny hills of the central coast of California and we continued on the 101 Pacific Coast Highway. This was absolutely gorgeous! We wanted to stop at every corner to take pictures as the beautiful, sometimes dramatic views of the sea, mountains or wineries were stunning.
It was a mesmerizing weekend, full of joy and happiness of these 4 animals who are all keen of love and affection.
